People and Memories / Anwarabad

The people
behind the place.

Anwarabad’s story lives in the people who taught, learned, worshipped and made their homes here. These photographs and family recollections remember some of those lives.

From family recollections

These memories are passed down through conversation. Names and dates will be refined as more details are gathered.

01 / A life at the mosque

Hafiz
Ghulam Rabbani.

Remembering an imam whose life became part of the mosque’s story.

Hafiz Ghulam Rabbani served as the imam of the mosque in Anwarabad. He arrived as a young man. His family lived near the mosque, later moving to a home on its other side.

According to family recollections, he is buried within the mosque grounds—a lasting connection to the place where he served.

02 / Learning together

A community
of learners.

Learning was part of everyday life around the mosque.

This photograph shows some of its students, remembered as part of a much larger teaching community.
